Mt. Pamitinan in Rodriguez, Rizal

“Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing.”
― Barry Finlay

A new study on adventure tourism has revealed that hiking has become the number one most enjoyed activity for active travelers.

My first climb was in Mt. Pamitinan in Rodriguez, Rizal which is one of the trios in Sitio Wawa with Mts. Binacayan and Hapunang Banoi as the other two.  As a newbie, I find it challenging. It’s a very rough peak and if one dares to climb it, one must be willing to spare a few clothes and fingers to be slightly scratched. It was rather painful than tiresome but the breathtaking, picturesque overlooking of the spread of Rodriguez was all worth the trouble.

Climbing a mountain is not only a physical activity but a mental activity, too. Climbing keeps your senses alert at all times, your attention and focus are directed to only one activity. Your critical thinking and strategic planning are enhanced during this activity.

But, hiking doesn’t have to be expensive and extremely planned out because of the distance. In fact, around Nueva Ecija province, there are near cities and municipalities where you can climb your first mountain like Mt. Mapait in the Capital City of Palayan.

The mountains are calling and I must go
Mt. Mapait in Brgy. Aulo, Palayan City

In my 26 years of living in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija, I didn’t even know that there is a hidden natural paradise near me. It was just 10-15 minutes away from the city of Palayan and perfect for newbie hikers. If you want to know the history behind its name “Mt. Mapait” and experience the stunning view at the top, better book a day-trip-package with Leia-Lanz Farm Resort.

The resort is just nearby and it offers a variety of services. Aside from swimming pools, they also offer farm tour experience, tour around beautiful places in Palayan City and a lot more! They will surely give you memorable moments.

Climbing mountains is personal. The only barrier is within you. Same with life, you have to know how much farther you can go in order to determine where you are heading to. Just climb. Because someday, the things you will regret are the things that you didn’t do when you were able to.
